Investing in early stage companies gives you the chance of getting in on something before it becomes big. Imagine having the ability to go back and invest in today's biggest companies like Uber and Facebook. It also allows you to have a say in what companies you would like to see in the future. The vast majority of companies seeking funding are looking to create a better process or product that contributes to the betterment of society.

Is it Risky?

In short, Yes. Investing in seed stage or early growth stage companies can be very risky. Never invest more than you can afford to lose. The type of companies that look to seek funding are those who need additional capital to facilitate expansion, often having proven to have a product-market fit, but inability to fund further growth and development internally.
